Last year when Chennai Super Kings came back after a two-year ban, IPL fantasy cricket lovers realized what they missed.

The team’s last win in IPL 2018 edition was very special for them and the IPL fantasy league fans. CSK has made some incredible records in the IPL journey till now. And we are hoping to get some incredible records from CSK this season too at the end of the tournament.

In all the glorious years at IPL T20 fantasy cricket games, the Chennai-based franchise has broken and set several records in IPL history. Here’s a look at 4 such records:

100% playoff record

CSK have been a part of 9 out of 11 IPL seasons and have made it to the playoffs in every season they have participated. This makes CSK the most successful team in the Indian league. They have made it to the IPL final a record 7 times.

The Super Kings have won the IPL twice and have ended up as runners-up four times.

Best win rate in the IPL

Chennai Super Kings boasts the best win percentage in the IPL. They have won 96 of 155 matches they have played and lost just 57 fixtures. Lowest total defended

Chennai Super Kings hold the record for defending the lowest total in the IPL when they successfully kept Kings XI Punjab at bay after scoring 116/9 in 2009. The Super Kings restricted Kings XI to 92/8.

Most dot balls by CSK bowler

We have collected one record from this season as well. In the match against KKR, Deepak Chahar has created the record of bowling most dot balls in IPL history. The right-arm medium fast bowler has recorded bowling 20 dot balls against KKR.

The bowler has been in his lethal best when he dismissed Chriss Lynn at 0, Robin Uthappa at 6 and Nitish Rana at 0 of KKR.

Chahar, the 26 years old bowler, has bowled five dot balls in the 19th over of the KKR innings. This resulted in the bogging down of the big KKR hitter, Andre Russell.

IPL Fantasy Cricket History – Most Ducks Scored

Getting out for a duck is always an embarrassment for any batsman. Fans of IPL T20 fantasy cricket have seen many big cricketers in the Leagues’ history getting out for ducks.

The urgency of getting runs or no urgency, duck is always a shame even for the IPL fantasy cricket batsmen. With the on-going 12th edition of IPL, we are continuing re-visiting some key facts and figures that you may have not been aware of previously.

The IPL fantasy league fans have had its fair share of ducks over time. Even some players make an unfortunate habit of collecting them far more than the rest.

Here, we bring an interesting list of players with the most ducks in the IPL T20 cricket game.

Harbhajan Singh – 13 times

The legendary Mumbai Indians player has been dismissed for a duck on 13 separate occasions, making Bhajji the king of this dubious honour. Bhajji has bagged 13 ducks in 87 innings. With a strike rate of 138.69, he has amassed a total of 828 runs in his IPL career. He also has the highest score of 64, which came when his team needed him to strike a few lusty blows with the bat.

Piyush Chawla – 12 times

Once the next big thing in Indian cricket, it is fair to say that Piyush Chawla’s career has not gone down the path that most people were expecting it to do so. Piyush has bagged 12 ducks in 78 innings. With a strike rate of 111.28, he has collected a total of 562 runs in his IPL career.

The leggie though has formed a pretty decent IPL career, as he established himself as a crucial part of the KKR setup. Chawla’s shining moment though came with the ball as opposed to a ball in hand, when he steered KKR to a thrilling win against KXIP in 2014 final.

Manish Pandey – 12 times

Another former KKR star, Manish Pandey has also been dismissed a total of eleven times for no score his IPL career.  He has played 114 innings. With a strike rate of 118.85, he has scored a total of 2553 runs in his IPL career. He also has the highest score of 114* in his bucket, which is his sole century as well.

Parthiv Patel – 12 times

This wicketkeeper-batsman has played for six IPL franchises throughout his IPL career. While Parthiv Patel has always been a dependable player in the team, Patel has not managed to hold on to his spot.

Patel has been dismissed 12 times for duck in 129 innings. With a strike rate of 118.75, he has scored a total of 2647 runs in his IPL career. His highest score is 81.

Gautam Gambhir – 12 times

His entry in this list means, three unfortunate KKR players in the list of highest ducks. The Delhi batsman has earned 12 ducks in his IPL career of 152 innings before retiring from cricket in 2018.

Gautam Gambhir was famously out for three consecutive ducks in the 2014 edition. The legendary KKR captain has been one of the greatest players in league history. With a strike rate of 123.88, he has scored a total of 4217 runs in his IPL career. His highest score is 93.

IPL Fantasy Cricket – Top 5 Incident That Made IPL Famous

Like the IPL fantasy cricket games, IPL too is a platform of innovations. It offers players across the globe a chance to share their proficiency with each other.

Amongst the franchise-based cricket tournaments across the globe, IPL is the oldest. As IPL had started to come to effect in 2008, it carried many new things to the IPL T20 fantasy fans.

Now, this Twenty20 tournament has stepped into its 12thedition this year and the matches are going at full pace. So, here we are going to discuss the top five masterstrokes made by IPL, which made the league popular to the IPL fantasy league fans.

Using of foreign cricketers

IPL Governing Council’s call of using foreign cricketers in IPL T20 cricket game presented Indian players to share the dressing room with international cricket stars. This enabled them to find out tricks and incorporate them into games.

Availability of overseas players helps India to build a multicultural culture that worked out for Indian cricketers to develop themselves and prepare themselves for international cricket. In the meantime, the use of international stars also increased IPL’s elegance of the league.

Hand out an evening soap opera for working clash

The decision of Board of Control for Cricket in India to hosts IPL matches after sunset increased the fans base. The working class of India discovered a new platform to spend a bit of quality time as IPL provided them to watch matches from the ground after their work is over.

This kind of action also observed full-house in almost every match and turned out to be a masterstroke as fans are back to love the game.

Sunil Narine’s top order blitz

During 2017 IPL, when former Kolkata Knight Riders Captain Gautam Gambhir chose to elevate mystery spinner Narine as an opener it left almost everyone surprised. This crazy move proved to be a better plan as Narine went on to holds the record of the fastest century in IPL.

He slammed a 15 ball fifty against Kings XI Punjab to take everybody by surprise in IPL 2017. It stunned everyone, not least the KKR franchise with how well it proved helpful for them!

Chris Gayle went unsold and fired for RCB as an alternative

In 2010 IPL, Chris Gayle was released from Kolkata Knight Riders franchise and went unsold in IPL auction. However, Dirk Nannes’ injury forced RCB to sign a deal with Gayle. This offered Gayle a great chance to prove himself and it seemed that he let loose his anger at every delivery.

That season, he scored 608 runs in 12 matches at an average of 67.55. He hit 2 centuries and 3 half-centuries. This was only the start as he destroyed bowlers in the following seasons till now.

Shane Warne’s use of youngsters in 2008

In 2008 IPL, famous leg-spinner Shane Warne performed the role of captaincy cum a senior post player. Underneath his coaching, a bunch of youngsters such as Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja and Kamran Akmal played out an essential role and groomed them.

Whilst Jadeja evolved into India’s one of the most skilled spinners while Yusuf Pathan hit a 37 ball century to steer Rajasthan Royals win their maiden IPL trophy and create history. It was Shane Warne’s cricketing perception and intent to work together with youngsters which did wonder in IPL for RR.

IPL Fantasy Cricket 2019 – Mankading Episode

The game of cricket has seen many hot controversies in its history. And ‘Mankading’ is one of the never-ending issues that have opinions from everyone like fantasy cricket game lovers.

IPL fantasy cricket fans know IPL has the habit of tossing a great many controversies every season. This year the extravagant game started on 23rd March. And soon after the start one of the major controversies in the history of IPL popped up. Keeping the trend intact, KXIP skipper R Ashwin buzzed a fresh storm when he ‘Mankaded’ Jos Buttler of RR. He is the first cricketer to be dismissed in such a manner in the history of the IPL.

IPL 2019 got its first dispute and the IPL fantasy league fans as well. What was the episode?

Maybe Punjab was getting desperate to win the match or in this case, skipper Ravi Ashwin was. Jos Buttler was taking away the game from Kings XI Punjab. Punjab didn’t even warn the Rajasthan cricketer earlier. Even though it was completely legal by the laws of the game, it was against the cricketing spirit, despite it being clearly legal by official rules.

Ashwin was bowling his final over, which was 13th for RR during their chase. The way Buttler had been batting, the victory target of 185 looked achievable for Rajasthan. While bowling the fifth ball of his last over, Ashwin appeared to have stopped in his action and waited for Buttler to leave his crease. He, then, Mankaded the non-striker and appealed.

The third umpire Bruce Oxenford supported it and Buttler was furious. Buttler broke into an animated conversation with Ashwin before he departed to the pavilion.

For the fans of IPL T20 fantasy cricket fans let us recount the MCC rule:

The MCC (Law 42.15) states that “The bowler is permitted, before entering his delivery stride, to attempt to run out the non-striker. Whether the attempt is successful or not, the ball shall not count as one of the over. If the bowler fails in an attempt to run out the non-striker, the umpire shall call and signal Dead ball as soon as possible.”

The above rule was formed by MCC and normally all the MCC’s rules were approved by ICC before being applied to matches. For many years in international cricket, the rules stated that a batsman can leave the crease once the bowlers’ backfoot lands on his delivery stride.

ICC rule and the difference:

Many were not aware of a rule change that was implemented since the 1st of October 2011, which gives a bowler complete right to run a batsman out before finishing his complete delivery stride (that means before releasing the ball).

The bowler is permitted, before releasing the ball and provided he has not completed his usual delivery swing, to attempt to run out the non-striker. Whether the attempt is successful or not, the ball shall not count as one of the over. if the bowler fails in an attempt to run out the non-striker, the umpire shall call and signal dead ball as soon possible.

This is where the biggest difference lies in MCC’s and ICC’s ruling. It’s quite absurd to assume that players are unaware of this minute but crucial difference. Once a bowler enters his delivery stride, it does not give the non-striker the freedom to move out of his crease. Unless the bowler has delivered the ball, the non-striker remains at the risk of being ‘Mankaded’. It’s a simple and clear rule.

The history behind ‘Mankading’

The name ‘Mankaded’ was attached with this dismissal way back in 1947. During the second Test match against Australia at Sydney, Indian left-arm spinner Vinoo Mankad ran Bill Brown out for the second time in that tour after the warm-up match against Australia XI.

Not very surprisingly, media cried foul, accusing Mankad to have broken the spirit of the game. However, he received support for his move even from the opposition camp in the form of their then captain, Donald Bradman.

“For the life of me, I can’t understand why [the press] questioned his sportsmanship. The laws of cricket make it quite clear that the non-striker must keep within his ground until the ball has been delivered. If not, why is the provision there which enables the bowler to run him out? By backing up too far or too early, the non-striker is very obviously gaining an unfair advantage,” revealed Bradman.

The bowling team will get no credit other than just the so-called ‘good boys’ image from the media when the opposition steals a win by a close margin.
