Different Colours of Cricket Balls Used in Cricket

For us, the ardent cricket fans and the lovers of the daily fantasy cricket game, cricket ball matter. Sometimes we see our favourite cricketers struggling to play with a moving ball.

In such cases, the colour of the ball used matters. If your player can’t see a ball and cannot hit it, how will your fantasy cricket scoreboard go up? Let’s dig out the colour of balls used in different formats of cricket matches

RED CRICKET BALL

Cricketers are using red colour cricket balls generally in the international test matches since the time it has been played. It used as test matches played in day time and they offer better shine and swing for fast bowlers. Red colour balls are perhaps the best balls for cricket matches.

Kookaburra Balls (Red) were first used at an international level. It was when the Australian Board of Control International Cricket (now Cricket Australia) selected the Kookaburra Turf Ball. Don Bradman’s Australian Test team used it when they played England in the 1946/47 Ashes Test Series.

Made of the finest raw materials! Combining the traditions of cricket ball making techniques with modern precision the Kookaburra Red Turf Ball. It has manufactured to the requirements of cricket authorities worldwide and used by Cricket Australia since 1946. Today, the Red Turf Ball used in the majority of Test Matches and in the First Class cricket competitions.

WHITE CRICKET BALL

In 1977 Kookaburra asked by Kerry Packer and the Nine Network to develop a white cricket ball. To use for possible one-day limited overs cricket and day-night test cricket. Which they wanted to play into the evening for television purposes, known as World Series Cricket.

The instructions from Kerry Packer were simple. The white ball must play as close as possible to the red ball used in Test match cricket. Turf ball is made using exactly the same method as the red cricket ball. However, the leather used to make the ball is natural, and is an off-white colour. To ensure the brightness and clarity of the colour does not significantly deteriorate throughout a cricket game. The leather covered with a pigmented, pure white finish.

The biggest challenge with the white ball is the discolouring. As the white cricket ball wears and scratches, it inevitably picks up some contamination from the surface leading discolouring of the white ball throughout an innings. Since October 2012, One Day Internationals manage this. They use two new white Turf balls in each innings, with a different cricket ball used at each bowling end.

PINK CRICKET BALL

Following the success of the white cricket ball and with a push for Test cricket to be played under lights, the International Cricket Council, Marylebone Cricket Club and Cricket Australia turned to Kookaburra for assistance with the creation of a pink ball to help facilitate the process.

The colour pink has been trialed as the cricket ball colour used for the traditional four day and five day longer form of cricket. It felt that the longer form of the game should be played in white or cream clothing. Therefore, it is essential that the colour of the ball does not clash with the colour of the players’ clothing. So far, pink has proven to be the best colour to contrast with the traditional white and cream clothing which can be seen in both day and night time conditions and is still visible at all stages of its natural colour deterioration over 80 overs of cricket.

The Pink Kookaburra Turf Cricket Ball is the current ball being used in trials around the world and has recently been confirmed for use in the first Test match under lights between Australia and New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval in November 2015.

No other cricket ball has gone through the level of development, testing and trials that the pink Turf cricket ball has undergone prior to being confirmed for use in the first under lights Test match.

5 Tips to Make Money from Fantasy Cricket App

If you are new to the fantasy cricket world, you will be wondering how a fantasy cricket app works and how to win money through it.

You just need to do 3 things to play fantasy cricket:

  • Choose an upcoming match and create a team of 11 best players from both teams
  • Deposit money and join some contests using your team
  • After the match starts, track your contest leader board and see if your team wins

Use the app that permits team modification after toss

Most daily fantasy cricket platforms close the contest entries 1 hour before the official match start time. So you cannot be sure about the playing XI of both the teams. Because the toss is usually done only 30 minutes before start time, you will have more chances to predict the best players. So try 11Wickets which allows you to modify your team until the match starts. Also, after the toss, you will know which team is going to bat first. So based on this, you will be able to guess the opening players and bowlers and can select the best combination of players.

Join small but confirmed contests

If you are joining a large contest, the chances of reaching Rank 1 and hence winning that big amount is very low. To win money easily and with more chances, try joining small contests with 10 or 20 members. It is easier to beat 9 other members when compared to big number of members. Also check if the contest is a confirmed contest. So the contest will run even when it is not filled.

Understand the points system

Every online fantasy cricket platform/app has different points structure. Some of them give more points to Batting points such as runs, fifties etc., some give more weightage to bowling points such as wickets, maiden over, etc., Some of the apps give a balanced points system between batting, bowling and fielding. Depending on the match and app’s point’s structure, choose appropriate players.

Select your power players wisely

Most apps allow marking two players as Captain and Vice-Captain. If a normal player scores 10 points, the same player if marked as captain, will get 2x points and vice-captain gets 1.5x points. So you have to think a lot before marking a player as captain or vice-captain. Look at the recent performances of these players and make a decision.

 Refer & Earn

11Wickets have a referral program. Share your referral link to your friends. As soon as your friends join the app and start playing, you will get free money. This is the best way to earn money without playing.

So, if you select a player who is the leading run-getter/ leading wicket-taker or player who has chipped in with a valuable all-round performance, it increases your chances of gaining maximum number of points and winning the fantasy cricket game.

Try to add a couple of less expensive players:

As you get a fixed amount in which you have to accommodate your playing XI, the budget sometimes goes overboard. Read on the steps to take:

  1. Always select captain who is the best player in your fantasy team.
  2. Always select vice-captain who is the second best player of your team.
  3. Never pick out of form players as your captain or vice-captain.
  4. We should rarely pick bowler as captain.
  5. Openers or all-rounders are always good options for a captain.
  6. You have to make sure to make captain someone who will be the star player of the match scoring maximum points.
  7. All-rounders can score points in batting bowling and fielding, hence they can score maximum points in a match.
  8. Never select Captain and Vice-Captain from same team. There are chances of two players giving the best performance if the match from one team is very low.
  9. Avoid selecting Bowlers as your Captain because it’s too unpredictable. You can make wicket taker bowlers your Vice-Captain.
  10. If the Pitch is Batting Pitch always make Batsmen from both team Captain and Captain.
  11. Don’t make someone captain who gave good performance in the previous match. He is highly unlikely to play in next match.
