IPL Fantasy Cricket – Best One-Handed Catches

Ever since the inception of the IPL T20 fantasy cricket, it has been the richest and most popular cricket league around the globe. In cricket, fielding contributes equally to winning a match for a side as its batting and bowling.

IPL matches and IPL fantasy cricket games have helped to revolutionise the concept of this short format of cricket. Over the years, the fielders have taken some brilliant catches and have shown some amazing aerobatics skills to fans.

In all the catches, the most brilliants ones are the catches which the fans’ eyes catch. Every single handed catch becomes a moment of rejoicing for fans sitting in the stadium along with IPL fantasy league fans.

Let us take a look at the best single-handed catches in the IPL T20 cricket game history. Read on:

Trent Boult vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

This one is said to be the best catch in the history of IPL. The New Zealand bowler, Trent Boult is the first in our list. During IPL 2018, in match Delhi Daredevils was playing against RCB, Trent Boult stole the show for his one-handed catch. Boult caught Virat Kohli’s ball single-handed. He caught Kohli’s potential boundary on the line keeping his nose in-field.

Kieron Pollard vs Chennai Super Kings

The Trinidadian cricketer and the aggressive all-rounder, Kieron Pollard is popular for his acrobatic fielding efforts. In this IPL 2019, Pollard shows off his brilliant acrobatic skills again to the fans. On 3rd April 2019, during the 15th IPL match, while playing against CSK Pollard dismissed one of its top order batsmen.

He dismissed Suresh Raina of CSK. During the 5thover, Raina’s bat connected flawlessly with a length ball and it flew towards deep cover. Pollard, who was positioned in front of the boundary line, pulled off a spectacular catch and CSK lost their third wicket. It was a marvellous moment to watch.

Faf du Plessis vs Mumbai Indians

The South African right-handed batsman, Faf du Plessis is the third in our list of fielders with the best one-hand catch. During IPL 2015, it was the match between the two strongest teams of the tournament, CSK and MI. CSK bowler caught the ball of MI batsman Corey Anderson. Anderson came to bat for his side MI at number 3 but could stay long at the crease, thanks to the one-handed catch by du Plessis.

Anderson pulled a short length delivery from Nehra of CSK but couldn’t quite middle it. The ball flew straight over the head of Nehra into no-man’s land.  But, du Plessis ran in from mid-off and took a single handed catch.

Sanju Samson vs Mumbai Indians

During the last IPL season in 2018, the Rajasthan Royals player Sanju Samson added another stunner to the list of one-handed catch. Playing against Mumbai Indians, Samson covered a lot of ground and dive full stretch to take a single-handed catch and sent Hardik Pandya of MI to pavilion for 36 runs.

Ricky Ponting vs Mumbai Indians

The Australian star played in IPL 2013 for a few matches for Delhi Daredevils. But he left an incredible mark by taking a single-handed catch. Unmukt Chand of MI tried to flick a delivery by Harbhajan Singh of DD to the leg side. However, it took a leading edge and flew towards extra cover where Ponting flung himself in the air, after slipping during his run, to take a brilliant one-handed catch.

IPL Fantasy Cricket League – 5 Most Expensive Flop Players

Every year, excitement for the IPL T20 fantasy cricket fans begin with the auction of the players! The day of the auction has been fascinating for the fans, since the advent of this popular T20 tournament.

All these years, IPL franchises have surprised the fans with their selection of players for their squad. While some of the franchises empty their fund to buy a particular cricketer, some others manage a decent purchase all through. The IPL fantasy cricket fans find auction stage intriguing and base of the teams’ strength.

Every year, not just the players sign multi-crore deals with IPL franchises but also add loads of pressure on themselves. They also have to deal with the added responsibilities and expectations of IPL fantasy league fans and cricket management.

Look below at the list of a few costly purchases in various seasons of the T20 cricket game. These players failed to deliver for their respective franchises. Read on:

Yuvraj Singh

The Punjabi lad, Yuvraj Singh is top in our list. It has been too risky for the Mumbai Indians to buy him this season, IPL 2019. For the team this year, he has played just 4 matches and made 98 runs at an average of 24.50.

But, we are not talking about this season.  During IPL 2015, Singh was bought by Delhi Daredevils for a whopping ₹ 16 crore. He was the costliest player ever bought in an auction. In that edition, he managed to score just 248 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 118.09 and an average of 19.07.

In IPL 2014, Singh played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and was released by them ahead of the IPL 2015 auction. Their decision came after his ordinary performance.

Tymal Mills

He is the extremely talented bowler from England; Tymal Mills caught the attention of IPL franchises when he toured India for T20 international in 2017. It was not his performance but his pace variations which impressed all. In the T20 internationals, he troubled the Indian cricketers much on their home soil.

RCB purchased him for ₹12 crore, the second highest paid cricketer in the auction for IPL 2017. Mills didn’t live up to the hopes of the team & fans. He managed to take just 5 wickets in 5 matches at an economy of 8.57. He was dropped for his underperformance and went unsold in the IPL auction 2018.

Dinesh Karthik

RCB invested the cash they got after releasing a lavish Yuvraj Singh in purchasing the wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik. Karthik played for DD in IPL 2014. He had an average season and was released by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2015auction. Bangalore surprised all when they bought him for ₹10.5 crore.

He performed excellently behind the stumps but failed to show his batting skills. He managed to score 141 runs in 16 matches at an average of 12.81.

Pawan Negi

Delhi Daredevils surprised everyone when they bought the youngster for a huge₹ 8.5 crore in IPL 2016 auction. Negi played for CSK in the 2015 and had mesmerized all with his all-around performance.

Negi played 8 matches for the Delhi team and performed poorly both with both bat and ball. He managed to take one wicket in the season and bowled at an economy of 9.33.

Irfan Pathan

During IPL 2011, Irfan Pathan was bought by Delhi franchise for approximately ₹8.5 crore in the auction. Pathan had delivered a pretty decent season in 2010 and has the money pressure on him for the season.

But sadly, Pathan failed to deliver according to the high hopes of his team this time. He managed to take just 11 wickets and score 150 runs in 14 matches at an average of18.75.

IPL Fantasy Cricket League – Cricketers Dismissed at 99

If you are a regular IPL fantasy cricket fan, you know that IPL centuries are treated to eyes. Though since 2008 we watch IPL matches almost every day during April-May, IPL century isn’t something we witness every day!

Till now numerous cricketers have played IPL. But just a few of them have succeeded to score a century. Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and Shane Watson are the top centurions in the IPL fantasy cricket history.

If we include this season, though still, initial rounds are on-going, there have been 55 centuries scored by players. There have been only two players who got out on 99 since the beginning of the IPL fantasy league.

Read on those two incidents where the cricketer got dismissed on that nervous number in T20 cricket game.

Virat Kohli against Delhi Daredevils

The season was IPL 2013, 57th match and date was 10th May 2013. Royal Challengers Bangalore was playing against Delhi Daredevils, which is rechristened this year as Delhi Capitals. The venue was Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.

DD won the toss and elected to field first, giving the batting opportunity to their guest. RCB scored 183 from 20 overs. On the last ball of their innings, RCB skipper Virat Kohli got run-out on 99. The last over saw him scoring 2-4-4-6-6 from the first five balls. While trying to sneak a double in the last ball, he fell short of a much deserving ton by 1 run.

Kohli faced 58 balls before getting run out. His strike rate was 170.68 and his innings included 10 boundaries and 4 sixes. Despite his century miss though, RCB had beaten DD by 4 runs.

Prithvi Shaw against Kolkata Knight Riders

This time again the ground was same, Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. It was the 10th match of this season, IPL 2019, on 30th March 2019. Young Prithvi Shaw of Delhi Capitals got dismissed on 99 after a remarkable batting show. Invited to bat first by DD, KKR scored 185 runs from 20 overs.

Chasing 186, Prithvi Shaw was in great form right from the first ball. In the 19th over, when he mis-hit a pull off Lockie Ferguson, he was caught by Karthik on 99. Shaw missed the milestone of becoming the youngest-ever century-maker in IPL history. His strike rate was 180.00 and his century included 12 boundaries and 3 sixes.

Last year when Chennai Super Kings came back after a two-year ban, IPL fantasy cricket lovers realized what they missed.

The team’s last win in IPL 2018 edition was very special for them and the IPL fantasy league fans. CSK has made some incredible records in the IPL journey till now. And we are hoping to get some incredible records from CSK this season too at the end of the tournament.

In all the glorious years at IPL T20 fantasy cricket games, the Chennai-based franchise has broken and set several records in IPL history. Here’s a look at 4 such records:

100% playoff record

CSK have been a part of 9 out of 11 IPL seasons and have made it to the playoffs in every season they have participated. This makes CSK the most successful team in the Indian league. They have made it to the IPL final a record 7 times.

The Super Kings have won the IPL twice and have ended up as runners-up four times.

Best win rate in the IPL

Chennai Super Kings boasts the best win percentage in the IPL. They have won 96 of 155 matches they have played and lost just 57 fixtures. This takes their win percentage to a whopping 62.66, which is the highest in IPL. Three-time champions Mumbai Indians are next in the list with a win percentage of 57.34.

Lowest total defended

Chennai Super Kings hold the record for defending the lowest total in the IPL when they successfully kept Kings XI Punjab at bay after scoring 116/9 in 2009. The Super Kings restricted Kings XI to 92/8.

Most dot balls by CSK bowler

We have collected one record from this season as well. In the match against KKR, Deepak Chahar has created the record of bowling most dot balls in IPL history. The right-arm medium fast bowler has recorded bowling 20 dot balls against KKR.

The bowler has been in his lethal best when he dismissed Chriss Lynn at 0, Robin Uthappa at 6 and Nitish Rana at 0 of KKR.

Chahar, the 26 years old bowler, has bowled five dot balls in the 19th over of the KKR innings. This resulted in the bogging down of the big KKR hitter, Andre Russell.

IPL Fantasy Cricket History – Most Ducks Scored

Getting out for a duck is always an embarrassment for any batsman. Fans of IPL T20 fantasy cricket have seen many big cricketers in the Leagues’ history getting out for ducks.

The urgency of getting runs or no urgency, duck is always a shame even for the IPL fantasy cricket batsmen. With the on-going 12th edition of IPL, we are continuing re-visiting some key facts and figures that you may have not been aware of previously.

The IPL fantasy league fans have had its fair share of ducks over time. Even some players make an unfortunate habit of collecting them far more than the rest.

Here, we bring an interesting list of players with the most ducks in the IPL T20 cricket game.

Harbhajan Singh – 13 times

The legendary Mumbai Indians player has been dismissed for a duck on 13 separate occasions, making Bhajji the king of this dubious honour. Bhajji has bagged 13 ducks in 87 innings. With a strike rate of 138.69, he has amassed a total of 828 runs in his IPL career. He also has the highest score of 64, which came when his team needed him to strike a few lusty blows with the bat.

Piyush Chawla – 12 times

Once the next big thing in Indian cricket, it is fair to say that Piyush Chawla’s career has not gone down the path that most people were expecting it to do so. Piyush has bagged 12 ducks in 78 innings. With a strike rate of 111.28, he has collected a total of 562 runs in his IPL career.

The leggie though has formed a pretty decent IPL career, as he established himself as a crucial part of the KKR setup. Chawla’s shining moment though came with the ball as opposed to a ball in hand, when he steered KKR to a thrilling win against KXIP in 2014 final.

Manish Pandey – 12 times

Another former KKR star, Manish Pandey has also been dismissed a total of eleven times for no score his IPL career.  He has played 114 innings. With a strike rate of 118.85, he has scored a total of 2553 runs in his IPL career. He also has the highest score of 114* in his bucket, which is his sole century as well.

Parthiv Patel – 12 times

This wicketkeeper-batsman has played for six IPL franchises throughout his IPL career. While Parthiv Patel has always been a dependable player in the team, Patel has not managed to hold on to his spot.

Patel has been dismissed 12 times for duck in 129 innings. With a strike rate of 118.75, he has scored a total of 2647 runs in his IPL career. His highest score is 81.

Gautam Gambhir – 12 times

His entry in this list means, three unfortunate KKR players in the list of highest ducks. The Delhi batsman has earned 12 ducks in his IPL career of 152 innings before retiring from cricket in 2018.

Gautam Gambhir was famously out for three consecutive ducks in the 2014 edition. The legendary KKR captain has been one of the greatest players in league history. With a strike rate of 123.88, he has scored a total of 4217 runs in his IPL career. His highest score is 93.

IPL Fantasy Cricket – Top 5 Incident That Made IPL Famous

Like the IPL fantasy cricket games, IPL too is a platform of innovations. It offers players across the globe a chance to share their proficiency with each other.

Amongst the franchise-based cricket tournaments across the globe, IPL is the oldest. As IPL had started to come to effect in 2008, it carried many new things to the IPL T20 fantasy fans.

Now, this Twenty20 tournament has stepped into its 12thedition this year and the matches are going at full pace. So, here we are going to discuss the top five masterstrokes made by IPL, which made the league popular to the IPL fantasy league fans.

Using of foreign cricketers

IPL Governing Council’s call of using foreign cricketers in IPL T20 cricket game presented Indian players to share the dressing room with international cricket stars. This enabled them to find out tricks and incorporate them into games.

Availability of overseas players helps India to build a multicultural culture that worked out for Indian cricketers to develop themselves and prepare themselves for international cricket. In the meantime, the use of international stars also increased IPL’s elegance of the league.

Hand out an evening soap opera for working clash

The decision of Board of Control for Cricket in India to hosts IPL matches after sunset increased the fans base. The working class of India discovered a new platform to spend a bit of quality time as IPL provided them to watch matches from the ground after their work is over.

This kind of action also observed full-house in almost every match and turned out to be a masterstroke as fans are back to love the game.

Sunil Narine’s top order blitz

During 2017 IPL, when former Kolkata Knight Riders Captain Gautam Gambhir chose to elevate mystery spinner Narine as an opener it left almost everyone surprised. This crazy move proved to be a better plan as Narine went on to holds the record of the fastest century in IPL.

He slammed a 15 ball fifty against Kings XI Punjab to take everybody by surprise in IPL 2017. It stunned everyone, not least the KKR franchise with how well it proved helpful for them!

Chris Gayle went unsold and fired for RCB as an alternative

In 2010 IPL, Chris Gayle was released from Kolkata Knight Riders franchise and went unsold in IPL auction. However, Dirk Nannes’ injury forced RCB to sign a deal with Gayle. This offered Gayle a great chance to prove himself and it seemed that he let loose his anger at every delivery.

That season, he scored 608 runs in 12 matches at an average of 67.55. He hit 2 centuries and 3 half-centuries. This was only the start as he destroyed bowlers in the following seasons till now.
