An Incredible Match of Cricket

Hello to all the lovers of fantasy cricket! Are you playing your favourite fantasy sports at your free time? We hope you are!

It is said as much as it fun to watch any cricket match, it is also the same fun to play fantasy cricket and to know about different historical tales about the sport. So are you up to listen a tale dated back to 1900 and linked to Olympics?

Read on then:

Being an ardent fan of cricket, which we are sure you are, you may know that cricket is not considered as an athletic sport. Olympic motto is ‘Faster, Higher, Stronger’. But cricket do not cut this deal of Olympics and hence there is a huge debate about the inclusion of cricket.

But in 1900, a cricket tournament was played as part of the 1900 Summer Olympics. The match took place on 19–20 August at the Vélodrome de Vincennes. The only match of the tournament was played between teams France and Great Britain., Great Britain won the match by 158 runs.

In the 1896 Summer Olympics, cricket had been scheduled as an event at the first modern Olympics. Cricket was being listed in the original programme for the Athens Games then. The event got cancelled due to an insufficient number of entries.

Again four years later, at the Paris Games, there was also a shortage of entries. Belgium and the Netherlands, who for a time had been regarded as possibilities to co-host the Olympics with France, opted out from the cricket tournament when their co-hosting bids fell through.

The somewhat random nature of the cricket tournament was mirrored all through the rest of the 1900 Olympics. Events took place all the way through a six-month period from May through until October.

Taking part in Olympics

Initially, cricket teams representing Belgium, France, Great Britain, and the Netherlands were scheduled to compete in that tournament of Olympics. Belgium and the Netherlands pulled out of the tournament, leaving Great Britain to play with France. Neither France nor Great Britain was nationally selected. The cricket team of Great Britain was a touring club, the Devon and Somerset Wanderers also known as Devon County Wanderers, while the French cricket team, the French Athletic Club Union, included mainly British emigrants living in Paris.

The match was of two-day, which began on 19th August 1900. The team of Great Britain batted first and scored 117, and bowled France out for 78. In their second innings, Great Britain then scored 145 for 5, giving the hosts a target of 185. The tourists bowled out France at 26 runs to win the match by 158 runs, a noteworthy margin. Interestingly, it was only five minutes of the match remaining, when the Great Britain won the match.

The Great Britain cricket team was awarded silver medals and the French team bronze medals, jointly with miniature statues of the Eiffel Tower. The match was officially recognised as being an Olympic contest in 1912, and the medals were later reassigned as gold and silver.

Isn’t this an interesting tale to know?

Pick the Perfect Fantasy Football Team

Fantasy sports can take more time away from the office, work, or even family work. But it can also have a lot of fun. Using online representations of the football player in real life, anyone who likes the game can be a manager, supervisor, and know-it-all in the online area.

History of Fantasy Sports

To pick a perfect fantasy football team all the time is not possible. This is because no matter how much you try to stay in control, unexpected things can always happen. You can make the best of the selections and best of the choices but you can still end up performing as the bottom-most team. This is because not everything is in your hands. You trust that certain players will play well and certain others won’t. Therefore you need to take a leap of faith or a strategic game plan to make sure that your team plays well.

Fantasy football is played by people from all over the world. In fantasy football league you select a team from different players from across the globe. Your team is then pitted against other teams from all over the world by other players who are playing along with you. Based on how the players of your team have performed in real life, your team gets individual points and team-based points.

These points accumulate to give you a final score. This score is compared with other teams to determine who comes at the top. Therefore to give you an easy strategy, your team should comprise of the best performing players at that given point from across the world. The difficult task is to select the best performing players.

More to the history

A player might be playing well for a few matches and then may not play at all for the next few. Poor performances will result in the drop of points. Therefore you need to be careful about who you put on your team. The player that you have the most faith upon often might let you down with their poor performance.

The key is not to have the best team with the best players but a team filled with the consistent player. When playing fantasy football, the first impulse would be to buy all the star players around the world in your team. However, this is a foolish strategy. These players that are well established might or might not perform at any given point in time. Therefore you need to look out for the young and upcoming talent. You need to find players that work hard and try to perform at their best all the time. Even if they are not scoring goals or their team is not winning, their performance never drops.

These are the players that develop consistency in a team. These are also the players that will help your fantasy football team. Also, another disadvantage of buying all the star players is that you would have to waste a lot of money. You should remember that you will have a budget cap. You should, therefore, try to make the best out of your budget by selecting a side that is balanced and is consistent. Some wild cards here and there are good but these should not make up for your entire team. You should strive for balance when possible.

Top Fielders in the World Right Now

This is the era of limited over cricket, fantasy cricket online. Along with the batsmen and bowlers, cricket fielding plays a crucial role in this sport.

The reason for that is simple. Runs saved on the field make a difference in closely contested games. And as teams can’t afford to leave runs on the field. Hence, the surfacing of top-class fielders across cricket teams has been a natural outcome. And these days almost all teams have a few fielders who are quite bright.

In fantasy games as well, users can earn good points based on the performances of the fielders. So let us take a look at the 4 fielders having great fielding talents.

David Warner

This Australian cricketer’s fielding is very much similar to his batting. Speed, strength and the eye for break describe him as a fielder. Warner is truly a fielding all-rounder, who can be evenly successful at almost any arrangement of fielding.

When he fields in the deeper positions, his aptitude to cover ground like a rugby player makes him one of the best boundary rounding fielders in the globe. Batsman has to place it actually well if he has to score a four in Warner’s area.

Besides that, he is an incredibly safe catcher. Even though he is very sporty, he is not known for taking acrobatic catches. Warner also has a very strong arm. He sends in fast precise throws from the deep that rules out the option of batsmen stealing runs due to poor throws. Warner’s prowess as a fielder in the circle is evenly effective. But it is in the deeper areas where he really comes alive.

Ben Stokes

Over the past few years, England’s all-round motivation Ben Stokes has turned into one of the best cricketers in the world and because of his eye-catching all-round exploits, his position as one of the world’s best fielders perhaps goes unnoticed.

One thing that requires to be remembered about Stokes is that he is an extremely gifted athlete and he brings those raw reflexes when he fields. Like the best fielders, he has no deficit as a fielder and can field at most positions.

A trait that truly tells us that he is one of the top fielders is his willingness to try the extreme and he pulls it off frequently. Stokes’ sturdy arm, the swiftness of covering ground across the field and a perfect catching method makes him one of the best fielders across the globe now.

Ravindra Jadeja

When Indian cricketer, Ravindra Jadeja initially began playing cricket in Jamnagar, his coach had first sharpened his skills as a fielder prior to anything else, and that evidently is demonstrated on the field and when points are earned in fantasy cricket for his performances.

Jadeja is one of the safest catchers across the globe at the moment; he has pulled off loads of terrific catches at a variety of positions. Added to that, he is one of those rare fielders who can hit the stumps and that makes him particularly risky for batsmen, who may try to steal a single or two.

Lastly, Jadeja’s throws from the deep are roughly always precise and batsmen always think twice prior to taking liberties when he fields at that position. In all the three formats of cricket, Jadeja has emerged as one of the best fielders in the world.

Kieron Pollard

West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard has an exclusive signature move that no other fielder across the globe has been capable to master and most likely they never will.

Batsmen often hit flawlessly fine shots that seem to be going over the boundary but then if it is Pollard’s zone then he leaps up and plucks it out of thin air, one handed. The batsmen are frequently made to look foolish.

Pollard’s 6 feet 4 inches frame and large hands make it possible for him to be winning at this, which is why no other fielder has been capable of mastering it. The timing of the leap is also supreme and Pollard has turned it into an art form.

But, other than this special aspect of his fielding, he covers a lot of ground rapidly with his enormous strides even though he is not the fastest mover and sends in rocket throws from the deep with the smallest amount of fuss. He is a misleadingly brilliant fielder and is, undoubtedly, among the best fielders across the globe at this moment.

The Fantastic World of Fantasy Cricket Games in India

It’s true that cricket has begun in England but it is truly in India where it is celebrated as something more revolutionary, almost like a religion for fans. With the 10 year old IPL (Indian Premier League) making all the fans mesmerized every year with new players and exciting teams, the cricket fever has grown to be almost a national affliction for Indians. Hence, those, who love to drool over the cricket stats, there is some exciting new fantasy cricket games.

What is Fantasy Cricket?

Cricket games by famous developers have always been a rage for the cricket fans. These games could be played on a number of platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox and so on. These platforms have now been outdated and surpassed with the new surge of online games. These online fantasy cricket games will enable you to form your imaginary teams using real players.

Everyone else does the same thing and form teams, and then the teams compete against each other. So how do you decide who wins? Points are assigned to certain actions, such as a batsman scoring runs; a bowler is taking wickets in the real life games. At the end of all the games you add up all of your players’ points depending on how your chosen players perform in real life matches, and whichever team has the highest score, wins. This can teach you some skills crucial for real-life cricket.

Fantasy cricket is the game of skill and hence legal.

Game of skill means that people on the fantasy sports website use their analytical predictions about who will win the match or which player will score well in the actual match and depending on their predictions they invest their money on the teams and the players.

Skill plays the dominant role and the result relies mainly upon the relative knowledge, training, attention, experience, and/or ability of the participants.

Fantasy cricket advantages:

Fantasy cricket is played in all 3 international forms: One Day International, Twenty20 and Test Cricket, Twenty20 being the most favourite one due to the popularity of IPL.

There are a few advantages of playing the fantasy games in Twenty20. One is that you get to choose all the real versions of the major players from world teams in your team. The fantasy games can include both real and virtual players. In addition, you will be able to make plenty of money in each of these games. That is if you are able to win the fantasy league games as well. You also get enough practice of cricket.

The future developments of fantasy cricket games will be worth looking forward to.

Happy playing fantasy cricket!
