Top Left-Handed Batsmen in International Cricket

How do you select your daily fantasy cricket team? Whom do you include in your team and whom you do not?

When you are selecting your batsmen for your fantasy cricket leagues online, you both right handed and left handed one, if you get both in your pool of players to select.

We have lots and lots of right handed batsmen in the international cricket world. And we have some of the very talented left handed batsmen who have changed the definition of success for their respective team through their talent.

Here is the list of best left handed batsmen of all time in the world cricket:

Kumar Sangakkara

He is s batsman who possessed a fine technique. With a cool mind, he employs all the strokes in the book, from the back foot and the front foot. His Test average of 57.40 is one of the all time best. A one day career with 25 centuries and 93 half centuries is better than most in the cricket world.

Brian Lara

The only player to have a century, a double century, a triple century and a quadruple century in Test cricket! He also has a five-hundred plus score in a first class match! He is a player of extraordinary skills and will always be revered.

Adam Gilchrist

Gilchrist believed in ‘See the ball, hit the ball’ principle. Gilchrist opened the batting, played a whirlwind innings. And by the time the opposition caught its breath, would depart having done his job. Going in first or seventh, wearing whites or colour reds, Adam Gilchrist was the symbolic heart of Australia’s steamrolling agenda. And he is the most exhilarating cricketer of the modern age. 17 centuries, HS of 204*, an average of 47.60 that too at a SR of 81.95, are awe inspiring numbers for any batsman, leave aside a number 7, as he was. He is one of the main reasons why Australia achieved the greatness, during his times.

Matthew Hayden

Strength was Matthew Hayden’s strength – both mental and physical. This man demoralized the bowler and the opposition like no other. He would time and again intimidate the bowler by moving ahead of his crease and would cart him for boundaries repeatedly and disturb his rhythm. Hayden was one of the finest Test batsmen from Australia, with an average of 50.73, 30 centuries and HS of 380.

Clive Lloyd

Mostly remembered as the captain of the famous invincible West Indies squad of the ’70s and ’80s, Clive Lloyd was a very successful batsman. Though not as brutal as Vivian Richards, Lloyd was also a hard hitter of the ball and could demoralise the opposition.

Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly is a batsman who combined grace with surgical precision in his stroke play. With crisp timing and stylish drives, Ganguly made batting look beautiful. And he has fine records in both ODIs as well as test formats.

Sanath Jayasuriya

He is the hurricane who demolishes the bowling in his inimitable style at the top of the innings, changes the way the first 15 overs of the ODIs. With 28 ODI hundreds, an ODI strike rate of 91.20, and a test high score of 340, he certainly is one of the greats who had an impact on the game.

Unrevealing Sides of FIFA World Cup Trophy

They say the trophy of the event is the biggest glory for the footballer and the supporting fans. We have brought this special post of FIFA Trophy history for the users of the fantasy football league. Read it on:

Many trophies presents for various sporting endeavours today. However, one of the most famous of these is the FIFA World Cup. Yet what many people do not realize this. The FIFA Trophy awarded today has only been in existence since 1974. Before, those nations that were winners of this particular sporting event were presented with the Jules Rimet Trophy instead.

Why a new FIFA trophy

Know the main reason why a new FIFA trophy introduced in 1970. Brazil awarded the Jules Rimet Trophy outright as they had won this competition three times. The FIFA had to arrange for a new trophy to replace it.

The new FIFA World Cup trophy then presented to the winning Nation in 1974. And this was West Germany and Franz Beckenbauer at the time captained it. Silvio Gazzaniga designed the trophy and Bertoni Milano produced it.

This trophy just like the Jules Rimet one before is very elaborate in design. On the body, two figures has been shown holding up the Earth. And on its base “FIFA World Cup” engraved in outpouring letters. The actual trophy has made from 18 carat solid gold. And it weighs a total of 11lb and measures to a height of 14.4 inches. To ensure that the cup stands correctly the base, it has been made from a strong carbonate mineral named Malachite. It measures a width of 5.1 inches.

To be able to view the names of the winning nations on this particular trophy it needs being turned upside down. This is because the names and dates when the trophy was won, engraved on plaques in English on the bottom of the base.

The current scenario

Today there are still enough plaques available to allow a further 9 nations to have their winning details placed on this trophy. It is only after the FIFA World Cup Competition in 2038, a decision need being made as to whether this particular trophy should retire and gets replace with a new one.

The biggest difference with this particular FIFA World Cup Trophy is that it is not one that can be won outright as Brazil did with the Jules Rimet Trophy. Today although the winning team gets this trophy on the day of their victory they don’t actually get to keep it and instead of provided with a replica.

The main reason for this is that following Italy winning FIFA 2006 after the Trophy was restored, it was damaged. Days after the trophy had presented to Italy pictures appeared in newspapers showing a small piece of Malachite base had broken off. The damage to the trophy was repaired. But to prevent such a situation in the future the FIFA decided no longer to allow the winning nation to retain the trophy until the next tournament.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy replica that the winning nation now receives is the same size as the original. However, unlike the original solid gold not used to make them but rather they use gold plating instead.

With such rich history in the FIFA world cup, one can easily see why it is the most popular trophies. And also most watched tournaments on earth. Many young footballers aspire to one day play in the World Cup one day.

Get into the World of Fantasy Football

Have you ever sat on a rainy day and solved a puzzle? Well, that is what fantasy premier league all about. Putting together a puzzle! You need to assemble your online football team and play.

The fundamentals of fantasy football games are the same at all places

  1. Form your squad of football players.
  2. The players each collect points based on their performances in games which contribute to your team’s overall score.
  3. The fantasy team with the maximum points in the scoreboard at the end of the match wins the fantasy league.

Budget

In almost all fantasy football league, players are given a budget of 100 credits with which to buy players. The cumulative value of the squad must not exceed this budget. This ensures that fantasy users cannot simply cherry pick all the best and most expensive players, instead of relying on their judgment to select a few cheaper alternatives.

Squad Composition

Fantasy games often differ when it comes to squad size, but one of the most popular in the world as we know is the fantasy football and in this sport, players must build a squad consisting of:

  • 1 goalkeeper
  • 3 – 5 defenders
  • 3 – 5 midfielders
  • 1 – 3 strikers

Formations

Once a fantasy player has chosen a squad, they must choose a formation for the opening round of league fixtures. In most online football games, players are allowed to alter their formation throughout the match.

Selecting a Team

Before each round of fixtures throughout the match, fantasy players must select their playing dream 11, in the process deciding which players will be left on the bench, meaning they will not score points.

Scoring

It is recommended to check the rules before selecting players for your squad.

Points are normally awarded for:

  • Playing in a match
  • Playing a large proportion of a match
  • Goals
  • Assists
  • Clean Sheets
  • Shots saved by a goalkeeper
  • Penalty saves

Points are generally deducted for:

  • Penalty misses
  • Goals conceded
  • Yellow cards
  • Red cards
  • Own goals

Players must choose a captain and a vice-captain each game. Your captain scores 2x point and vice-captain scores 1.5x points.

Leagues

Players compete in an overall league, and the team with the most points at the end of the match wins. Players are also able to set up mini leagues with friends and colleagues. Such leagues can ensure that interest remains high right through the match, even if players are well off the pace in the overall race.

Prizes

In most games, there are cash prizes for the owner of the team who finishes top at the end of the match. The prize is likely to be more considerable if players have to pay a fee to enter. The runner-up team owners are also liable to win a good percentage of cash prizes.
