But there have been countless tales which have led to controversy and given topics for the fantasy premier league fans at 11Wickets App.

Let’s take a look at those incidents and play fantasy football games.

The kung fu kick moment

The first controversial moment that comes to mind is Manchester United forward Eric Cantona’s infamous kung fu kick that was aimed at a Crystal Palace fan, after he racially abused the forward during a Premier League match that took place on the 25th of January, 1997. It is often referred to as the most controversial incident that has ever happened on the pitch in the history of football.

Zinedine Zidane headbutting

This is another incident that shocked football fans across the world. It was the final of the 2006 World Cup, and the French faced the Italians. Instigated by Italian center back Materazzi, former France captain Zinedine Zidane headbutted the defender and was immediately sent off after the referee showed him a red card. France went on to lose the final and Italy was crowned champions.

Kuwait and World Cup 1982

The only time Kuwait qualified for a World Cup was back in 1982. The experience was more on the sour side as a goal was disallowed for France after a Kuwaiti Sheikh decided that the goal must not stand as it had been scored after his players heard a whistle being blown from the crowd. Eventually the referee agreed to the wishes of the sheikh and decided to revert the decision which was finally of little bearing as France thrashed Kuwait by 4-1.

Harald Schumacher’s tackle

When it comes down to international soccer tournaments, Germany boasts of a fearful team. The most fearful of them was German goalkeeper Harald Schumacher who executed one of the most dangerous tackles on Patrick Battinson, and was widely criticized for tackling the player without going in for the ball. He managed to remain on the pitch and France had to bring in a substitute. Battinson suffered from two broken teeth, a broken neck vertebrae and cracked ribs. Germany won the match in penalty shootout.

Unique celebration by Graeme Souness

1996 saw Liverpool legend Graeme Souness celebrate a win over Fenerbache in the most controversial way ever. He took a Galatasaray flag and planted it right in the middle of the pitch inside the Fenerbache stadium which made him a fan favorite at Galatasaray and equally incurring the fury of Fenerbache fans.
