Bellerive Oval
The home of Tasmanian cricket, Bellerive Oval in Hobart is one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world. River Derwent runs alongside the stadium and this is the only venue in Tasmania where international matches are hosted. Aside from the cricket, Hobart is a lively city with a rich cultural heritage, surrounded by woodland and beautiful hills. This stadium was formerly known as Blundstone Arena as was established in 1914. The stadium has a playing area of 175.0m length 135.5m breadth with a capacity of 15,000. The stadium has till date hosted 235 cricket matches.
Sydney Cricket Ground
Also known as SCG, Sydney Cricket Ground is the world’s most iconic cricket ground. The center of the city is just a short walk from the stadium. It was built in 1848 and is the home ground for several cricket teams. Do you know about Sir Don Bradman’s record-breaking score of 452 not out? He made that record in SCG. It is the favourite venue of Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar. With a capacity of 44,002, SCG has a playing area of 156.0m long and 154.0m wide. Sydney Cricket Ground has hosted over 860 matches till date.
Adelaide Oval
The Adelaide Oval, located in Parklands, is a stunning venue. It is the favourite venue of Indian skipper, Viral Kohli. Built in 1873, this stadium is just a short walk from the centre of the city. The ground with the playing area of 190.2m long and 126.2m breadth can be the host of 50,000 cricket crowd. The first cricket match was held in 1877 between South Australia and Tasmania.
The Melbourne Cricket Ground
Melbourne Cricket Ground is located at Yarra Park in Melbourne. It is the biggest cricket ground in the nation and the 10th largest in the world by capacity. The MCG, as it is fondly called, was built in 1853. Two Cricket World Cups in 1992 and 2015 has been hosted in this ground. The first cricket match to be played at the ground was between New South Wales and Victoria in 1856. MCG holds the capacity of 90,000 cricket fans with the playing ground measuring 172.9m long and 147.8m wide.
