Fantasy Cricket – Most Bizarre Rules in Cricket

List of complicated rules in cricket is unending, isn’t it? When playing online fantasy cricket and making your playing XI team, your scoreboard gets stuck. This is because during the real match your player gets stuck due to some rules we are planning to mention in this post.

Many of the cricket experts find a few of the rules by the international board as silly or random. As ardent fan of fantasy cricket league, we are sure you are aware of these rules or noticed them in games. So the next time you play online cricket at the best platform of India, 11wickets app be sure to notice these rules and play your game.

Let’s us talk about these bizarre rules while you prepare your dream fantasy cricket team.

Leg before wicket is in fact just about anything before wicket

A batsman can be announced out for LBW, leg before wicket, even if the ball touches a helmet, gloves or any other portion of the body (not always the leg), so long as the part of the body that may be making connection with the ball is front of the wicket.

The keeper’s bad luck

No matter the reason, if the ball touches the helmet placed behind wicketkeeper, the batting side will likely be granted 5 runs for nothing at all.

Double batting

A batsman will be announced out if he hits the ball with his bat twice on purpose in a single ball bowled by the bowler. Inadvertent dual strikes are given not out.

Helmets are meant for protection, not for aiding in going for a catch

If a fielder catches the ball following the ball has hit his cap or helmet, then it is recognized as as not out. However, if the ball touches any other part of his body along with that he catches it, then batsmen is regarded as out.

If the ball hits the roof of the stadium then the delivery is considered for being dead

A dead ball is if the bowler fails to deliver a ball to the crease in only one bounce or any kind of disruption comes into the action of play however here we are speaking about other elements of a ‘dead ball’.

Playing cricket with the true sportsmanship spirit

If a batsman is declared out, there is also a particular rule that if by any means a skipper chooses to take his appeal back and following he has had a word with the umpire, the batsman probably called back.

The dilemma at the boundary rope

In current day cricket, we see some amazing athleticism. Most fielders find a way to prevent a six and take a catch by managing to keep the ball out from the boundary rope by tossing it in the air for a while and then heading back in the field and taking it efficiently but it’s not usually that easy. If the ball still manages to cross the boundary rope then he cannot move outside of the boundary and bring the ball back in, even if he jumps to stop the ball. It can be regarded as a six.

Ariel stoppage causes a dead ball

We know technology has its pros but technology also has its cons. In cricket it appears as a hindrance at times. If the ball hits the moving spider cam over the ground, the experts term the ball as Dead. This is even if the ball surely going to be caught or hit six if it has not touched the cam.

Fantasy Cricket – 5 Lesser Known Laws of Cricket

Cricket and complicated set of rules go hand in hand. Whether you are playing the daily online fantasy cricket or watching it live from the cricket stadium or on the idiot box sitting on your couch, the long set of laws and rules that comprise the sport and its numerous formats. But, exactly like any sport, its laws established by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) make sure fairness and standardisation in cricket.

With the game has modernised and is always under analysis thanks to various technical advances, the game still has some unfamiliar laws that haven’t been very common in today’s game. Perhaps some of the most passionate daily fantasy cricket and cricket fans might not know these unfamiliar rules that belong in the laws of cricket put together by the MCC:

Lost Ball

If the ball is lost and can’t be found out the fielding side may call it up ‘lost ball’. By law, the delivery after that turns into daead and it is shortly replaced with a ball whose state was just like the one which was first lost.

The batting side will likely be also given: ‘for any kind of penalties scored, for runs ran between creases from the batsmen or maybe the amount of runs (perhaps even a 6) struck after the ball was lost.’

The runs will be awarded to the batsman who strikes the ball, if usually (on the pads, body) it will probably be referred to as extras.

No Appeal

Even though this may appear to be practical, an umpire is not permitted to give a batsman out lacking an appeal from the fielding side. As indicated by Law 27, this does not stop a batsman from leaving his wicket without an appeal being made.

The umpire will, no doubt get involved if a batsman walks and he is convinced that the batsman is not out. He can call the batsman back again on to the field and sign a dead ball. The appeal from the fielding side might be made any moment before the bowler begins his run-up for the subsequent delivery.

Restriction of Injured Player

Everybody knows about the limitations needed when a fielder leaves the playing ground. A fielder must obtain permission from the umpire and inform them when they leave the field.

Every time a player fails to inform the umpire, a penalty of five runs shall be awarded to the batting side. But, this is where it begins to get complicated, if a bowler is taking longer than 15 minutes off the field, they can’t bowl for the allotted time they were away for. Things get tricky when an innings passes by.

Handling the Ball

This dismissal is merely dealt to a batsman who deliberately strikes the ball away with his hand and the hand is not holding the bat. Based on the laws of cricket, there are numerous ways a batsman can prevent being out through handling the ball – including when the batsman is attempting to prevent injury, or when the batsman is locating the ball for the fielder with his permission. The wicket doesn’t go to the bowler.

Forfeiture

Forfeiture is simply used on the longer format of the sports, as it can only take place when each team is scheduled to bat in two innings. This is when a team captain can quit a whole concluded innings, to get an outcome in a Test match.

Fantasy Cricket Trivia – A Day of Two English Test Hat-tricks

At times, some dates become famous for some super talented players. In our today’s online fantasy cricket post we will go down memory lane and talk about one such memorable date in cricket history.

30th July is famous for two Test hat-tricks by English famous fantasy cricket league bowlers. The first one came at Old Trafford in 1995 and the second one came 16 years later at Trent Bridge. And both helped England to win the respective matches comfortably and also win the heart of daily fantasy cricket games.

Dominic Cork’s Test Hat-Trick against West Indies

In 1995 it was Dominic Cork who was the hero for England against West Indies. West Indies only scored 216 in their first innings with only Brian Lara making any significant contribution. England got a lead of 221 runs thanks to 94 from Graham Thorpe and unbeaten 56 from Cork, his maiden Test fifty. West Indies started well and on 161/3 with Lara and captain Richie Richardson on the crease looked set to challenge England but Cork was in the middle of a good spell and got Richardson bowled. He followed it up with two more straight deliveries and got Junior Murray and Carl Hooper LBW in the next two balls. The hat-trick was completed and West Indies were suddenly 161/6.

Lara tried single-handedly and scored a brilliant 145 out of the team total of 314 but a target of 94 runs was never challenging and England got to the target with six wickets in hand.

Stuart Broad’s Test Hat-Trick against India

In 2011, it was the Indians against whom Stuart Broad took his hat-trick. Just a few months back India became the World Champion and they also had the number one ranking in the Test. They lost the first Test at Lord’s and while coming to Trent Bridge, key players like Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir were ruled out due to injury. Still, India started well and at one stage England were 124/8 in the first innings. Then a mighty 64 from Stuart Broad took England to 221.

India batted and reached 267/4, thanks to Rahul Dravid’s 34th Test hundred and fifties from VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh. But Broad got Yuvraj with the score on 267 as India’s fifth wicket. Soon with the score on 273, Broad got the dangerous MS Dhoni caught by Anderson in the second slip. Harbhajan Singh was LBW on the next ball and Broad completed his hat-trick as Praveen Kumar was clean bowled next day. With this both Broad and Harbhajan joined Shane Warne, Darren Gough, and Nuwan Zoysa to become players who have taken hat-trick and also became part of hat-trick in Test cricket.

From then on it was England’s Test match. India folded for 288 with a lead of just 67. England posted 544 in the second innings thanks to an Ian Bell classic among some controversies and India could score only 158 runs in the fourth innings and lost the Test match by 319 runs.
