Fantasy Cricket – Umpiring Hand Signals

Cricket is considered as one of the most complicated sports. This is not because of how the cricket fantasy game is played, but because of the kind of rules and laws it comprises of. Take a dismissal through Catch for example.

A catch involves a contact between bat and the ball before a fielder catches it. Now the contact may be the slightest one, but the value is the same – an entire wicket for a team and fantasy cricket league players.

Thus, the responsibility of making sure that these laws are followed is of the Umpire. They are the ones who make sure that online fantasy cricket is always remains a gentlemen’s game. Umpires receive a lot of respect from the cricketers, unlike football where referees are not treated ethically.

Here is a list of cricket umpire signals used during matches. Read about them and join daily fantasy cricket at 11wickets App.

Right arm outstretched

No-ball! This signal indicates that the bowler’s foot has landed over the front line of the bowling crease and the delivery is deemed a no-ball.

Both arms outstretched

Wide! This signal shows that the ball was out of reach of the batsman or woman and has been adjudged a wide. One run goes onto the batting team’s extras score, and the ball must be re-bowled.

Right leg raised and clasped by the right hand

Leg byes! This sign indicates that the ball hit the pads of the batsman or woman, not the bat, and that the runs completed are adjudged to be leg byes. These runs are not credited to the individual player’s score but to the team’s, as extras.

Right arm raised skywards

Byes! This shows that the ball has been missed by both the batsman or woman and the wicket-keeper. Any runs scored are deemed to be byes. Byes, like leg byes, are counted as extras.

Right hand and arm swept across the body

Four runs! This signal signifies that the ball has been hit all the way to the boundary. The ball has bounced on its way to the boundary and four runs have been scored.

Both arms held above the head and index fingers outstretched

Six runs! The ball has been hit over the boundary, without the ball bouncing. Six runs are awarded for this fab feat.

Index finger raised towards the batsman

Out! The umpire has given the batsman or woman out and they have to leave the crease and take the long, lonely walk back to the pavilion.

Right arm held at out horizontally then flexed back to touch the shoulder

Short run! One of the batsmen or women has failed to touch their bat down beyond the front line of the bowling crease when going for a run. This is deemed a short run and the scorer is being told to take that run off the score.

Dennis Lillee and Rod Marsh – Australia

Dennis Lillee and the legendary wicket-keeper Rod Marsh of Australia’s were infamously successful and competitive in the test team during 1970s and early 80s. Lillee and Marsh were both wildly successful in their respective roles. The paceman had a total of 355 test wickets and the keeper achieved extraordinary symmetry by recording 355 dismissals of his own (343 catches and 12 stumpings). The 95 wickets which the pair combined for came between 1971 and 1984 and took only 69 matches.

Glenn McGrath and Adam Gilchrist – Australia

This bowler and wicket-keeper combination is one of the most successful in Australian cricket history. Glenn McGrath troubled batsman even on sub-continent tracks. His consistency was unparalleled on a cricket pitch. As his inch-perfect lengths piled on the misery on the opposition. And if there was no Adam Gilchrist behind the stumps then McGrath might not be successful bowler. This partnership picked 90 wickets in 71 test matches from 1999 to 2007.

Muttiah Muralitharan and Mahela Jayawardene – Sri Lanka

Cricket fan admires Muralitharan and Mahela Jayawardene’s on-field chemistry. Both these legends were a part of the golden generation of cricketers for Sri Lankan cricket. The Mahela-Muralitharan partnership was indeed quite special. The duo managed a total of 77 dismissals which is just a fraction of Muralitharan’s 800 scalps.

Makhaya Ntini and Mark Boucher – South Africa

Makhaya Ntini and Mark Boucher played together for the South African team for almost 10 years. It is one of the lesser known partnerships in world cricket. Ntini and Boucher’s wonderful combination accounted for 84 dismissals in just 96 matches. Ntini retired in 2009 after pairing up with Boucher for almost 10 years, accumulating an impressive 390 wickets for South Africa.

Anil Kumble and Rahul Dravid – India

The combination of these two Indian cricketers was world famous. We are yet to see another slip field like we have seen Dravid. Fantasy Football – Last Minute Tips to Play the Game Online

It’s the season for the intense fantasy football action. When you are the active player of 11Wickets App and playing the fantasy premier league, you will be pulling your hair out. This is as you try and mastermind your strategies and score points in game after game. And the ultimate purpose for this is entertainment, showing off sports knowledge and win handsome amount of cash prizes.

Of course, being shrewd and sensible in the fantasy football league market is always vital. But success isn’t just about getting tips on which players to buy.

On that front, then, we’ve got you covered as here we’re offering up a few tips on how to get the very best out of your online football game team.

Avoid choosing expensive players

It is thrilling to get tempted by the glamourous footballers’ names, but your fantasy team you need to be investing your budget wisely. And that means you cannot afford to pay out heavy points for popular players’ selection. And also, you cannot spend heavily on the entry fees of the contests.

Take chances

Most of the games have surprise elements, be that players or team. Sometimes the players with lower points play well in the next matches and bring you lot of scores in the fantasy scoreboard. Selecting one or two players with lower credit points may not work out. But at times, miracle happens.

Penalties in game is the key of success

It’s clearly always good to have a penalty taker or two in your team. It would be well advised to go hard on getting as many penalty takers in your side as possible. For the first few games, logic would dictate that we’ll see more penalty kicks than normal. As such, penalty takers are going to be even more key than normal. On the flip side of this, of course, those goalkeepers famed for their penalty-saving abilities could also offer up the possibility of some high points returns.

Avoid doubling up

At rare times, having two or three players from the same club in the same section of your team can work brilliantly, but for the most part you should be looking to avoid doing this. Simply put, having two defenders from the same club isn’t worth the risk. Sure, the potential rewards could be a couple of clean sheets and maybe some bonus points, but it only takes one goal to be conceded before your looking at a poor points tally for two of your starting XI.
