So, here goes the list of players who have retired soon while they could have played for many more years. Read about them and play fantasy football league games for fun.

David Bentley

David Bentley took off early at the age of 29 during 2014. He was without a club for a year before he retired. Bentley was signed by Tottenham and the deal was worth of 17 million. He was described as the next David Beckham by Steve McClaren. Bentley was seen in seven games for England after which his decline started. He has even mentioned that he lost his love for the game and retired early.

Emanuel Petit

Emanuel Petit has been seen playing with some of the incredible players which include Henry, Zidane, Rivaldo, Guardiola, Lampard and has been a good player. He started his career as a defender and ended up as a deep lying midfielder. He has won the titles in France, England, World Cup and European Cup. Based on sources, it is said that Petit retired due to injury and when he was offered a contract by Bolton, he made up his mind to retire at the age of 32.

Jurgen Klinsmann

Jurgen Klinsmann is presently the manager of US Men’s national team but during 1990’s he was one of the greatest forwards of Germany. His contribution to the German National Team, as well as the clubs like Stuttgart, Inter Milan, Monaco, Tottenham and Bayern Munich, has been outstanding. He retired at the age of 34. He has won the World Cup and the European Championship and even finished at the runner-up for Ballon d’Or.

Shane Supple

Shane Supple played for few years and retired at an early age of 22. He was a goalkeeper and since he did not reach any peak, he took the decision to retired early. However, Supple had played 43 games and 34 of them came with a Championship side Ipswich Town. He gave up International soccer for Gaelic Football and still plays today for Dublin.

Paul Scholes

Paul Scholes retired at an age of36 which seems to be a fair age to retire but the player was capable of playing more games as he was at his peak. He had been under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson and played in 33 games which showed some of the extraordinary performances. Scholes was still able to control the game even after 36 and could have played for 20 more games for United if he had not hung up his boots.

Fantasy Football – 7 Different Types of Corner Kicks

Corner kicks are one of the many ways of restarting the play in fantasy football league. A corner kick is taken when the ball passes beyond the goal line, with the last touch coming from a player of the defending team.

These are taken from either of the corners of the football field, depending on the proximity to where the ball went out. These are usually good goalscoring opportunities for the attacking team and also for the fantasy football game fans of 11wickets Apps.

Naturally, there are several ways to take a corner to confuse the defending team. Now, let us take a look at the various ways in which a corner kick of fantasy football can be executed.

Short Corner

As the name suggests, this is the shortest of the corner kicks. The kick-taker passes the ball to a team-mate who is standing closer than 10 yards. This technique relies on opposition players leaving the box and moving towards the ball, thereby creating space to score.

Then, either the kick-taker or his team-mate takes back the ball and crosses it into a relatively emptier box or passes it to another player.

Near-post Corner

Once again, as the name suggests, the objective of a near-post corner is to cross the ball towards the nearest goalpost. This type of corner usually targets the absence of a defending player at the near post or the lack of a tall player at the same area.

The ball is crossed close to the head-height or slightly higher. The attacking player can either head the ball, take a shot with his foot or even redirect it towards a team-mate.

Far-post Corner

Just like the near-post corner, these are directed towards the far-post. These are the most common type of corner kicks as the attacking team looks to take advantage of the best headers in the team.

Normally, the attacking player runs from the edge of the box towards a lofted cross to head it in.

Mid-range Corner

Between the near-post and far-post, we get the mid-range corner. In this case, the ball is crossed right in front of goal. The exact position can be anywhere from the six-yard box to the edge of the penalty area but it is always in front of goal.

In all cases, the attacking player runs in to either head the ball in or volley it.

Direct Corner

One of the rarest corners to pull off, a direct goal is attempted in this case. This is an inswinging corner as the kick-taker tries to curl the ball into the goal.

Therefore, it is a difficult one to execute with multiple defenders and goalkeepers guarding the goal. Further, it requires inch-perfect accuracy as well, making it a difficult one to pull off.

Thus, these are the different types of corner kicks in football based on where the ball is played.

Inswinging Corner

In this case, the ball is whipped with an inward spin, i.e. the ball trajectory moves towards goal making it easier for the attacking team to score.

Outswinging Corner

The trajectory of an outswinging corner is away from the goal. The spin on the ball is used to target an attacking player’s head to increase the chances of scoring.

Former England captain Michael Atherton also tampered with the ball from the soil kept in the pocket. However, this controversy has been engulfing cricket.

The start of the foundation:

The start of Glenn McGrath Foundation was out by the former Australian pacer, Glenn McGrath and his wife Jane in 2005 soon after her recovery from breast cancer. 36 months later, Jane died and the Pink Test turned out to be a reality from the next year.

Fantasy Football – Facts about Football Gears

The fantasy football ball is spherical (round) and made of leather. For big football matches, the ball must have a circumference of 27 to 28 inches and weigh between 14 and 16 ounces. However, there are other sizes that are used for competition.

In our today’s post, we will mention about the football gears or equipment for the fantasy premier league fans of 11Wickets App.

Read on the facts and play fantasy football games to win cash prizes.

Uniforms and Kit

The uniforms for soccer players consist of a jersey and shorts. Players on the same team wear the same colored uniforms generally with a number and name on the back of the jersey. The goalkeepers wear a uniquely colored jersey so they will stand out to referees during play.

Arsenal Football Jersey

When you take everything that soccer players wear together, it’s called the “kit”. The kit includes the jersey, shorts, socks, cleats and shoes, and shin guards. Goalkeepers often wear gloves as well.

Shin Guards

Shin guards, or shin pads, are required. They help protect the front of the leg, or shin, from getting injured and bruised. Shin guards must fit under the socks. Goalies and forwards generally have the lightest weight shin guards while midfielders and, especially, defensemen wear heavier, more sturdy shin guards.

Soccer shin guards

Try to get shin guards that are comfortable and don’t hinder your running too much, but at the same time offer good protection. Even if they seem really uncomfortable at first, you will get used to them after a while, and when you get kicked in the shin really hard, you will be glad you have them!

Other Equipment Rules

Players are responsible for wearing equipment that will not endanger themselves or other players. This includes wearing jewelry or sharp spikes on the shoes.

Fun Facts

  1. Adidas has supplied the World Cup ball since 1970. Each ball has a unique design and name. The 2010 World Cup ball was the Jabulani.
  2. Shin guards were invented in 1874 by Samuel Widdowson, a player for Nottingham Forest.
  3. Professional soccer jerseys often have the logo of team sponsors right on the jersey. This advertising makes lots of money for the team.
